Beads Afar is a small company registered in North Carolina. It is run by its owner and design artist Susan Eastman.  The muse is the single bead that makes a connection. Whether it's Tibetan, African or Native American, the bead or pendant is transformed into a current context.

There are a series of one-of-a-kind necklaces: the traditional tribal with African trade beads and Tibetan or Native American pendants; the contemporary with African trade beads and vintage glass beads designed in a modern style; the charmers with vintage sterling silver charms and trade beads, glass beads or pearls; and antique amulets with pendants from Rajasthan, India representing the ancient gods and goddesses.

Museum stores have worked with the artist to align displays with their exhibits. The necklaces show in Santa Fe, New York City, and Chapel Hill.
